Hardware Engineer – Analogue Electronics

Mint Diagnostics is a young and highly innovative company breaking new ground in the area of hormone monitoring for elite sports and healthcare applications.

We require an electronics engineer with strong analogue expertise to join our team to help develop our reader products.

Your knowledge of analogue electronics will be backed up with strong practical ability. You will take a lead role in defining experiments, procuring necessary test equipment, analysing the device and its associated load, modifying and refining the electronics at PCB level, and drawing final conclusions, with assistance from the broader engineering team as required.

The task includes the evaluation of an electrochemical cell and will involve the transfer of various non-toxic reagents to the cell as part of the evaluation process.

Location: Cambridge

Position: Full time

Key responsibilities:

You will be responsible for evaluating and refining our prototype potentiostat subsystem, including:

  • Closed-loop control analysis (low frequency, high precision)
  • Precision voltage and current measurement
  • External load characterisation
  • Dummy load specification

You will help define what key metrics must be optimised, and how they can be evaluated experimentally on both current and future iterations of the system.

Required:

You should be qualified to at least degree level in electronics or a closely-related discipline

You should also have demonstrable experience in most of the following:

  • Low noise, low signal-level electronics
  • Precision instrumentation
  • Practical experience of measurement and analysis
  • Test and measurement equipment
  • Control theory
  • Design for EMC

Desired:

Ideally you will also have:

    • Experience of electronics simulation packages
    • PCB design using Altium
    • Strong practical skills
    • More general electronic hardware and software experience
    • Experience in development within a regulated industry
